Lewis Central Community School District is looking for full-time school-year Nutrition Services Manager.

POSITION TITLE: Nutrition Services Manager

FLSA: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Nutrition Services Director

Summary:
  • Oversee day to day operations, direct nutrition services staff at their assigned facility, ensuring safe quality food, while working alongside their team cooking, serving, cleaning and keeping accurate records.
  • Supervises, manages and provides guidance and support to nutrition services staff assigned to school facility.
Basic Duties (not all inclusive):
  • Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
  • Opens assigned facility, starts all equipment, checks and logs equipment temperatures to ensure food safety. Set up the cafeteria and kitchen for the day. Final close down daily to ensure safety guidelines are met.
  • Data entry and records including creating and maintaining preparation lists, signage, production records to project for present and future production to limit waste/cost, and email communications/follow up.
  • Order food and supplies for assigned facility
  • Assist with and oversee preparation for hot meals daily and various a la carte items
  • Monitor serving area to prevent theft
  • Ensure food safety including temperature checks, routine equipment maintenance, and proper cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Day to day supervision, guidance and training for staff. This includes daily feedback and documentation as well as annual performance reviews and input in site hiring decisions.
  • Cater to children with special dietary needs (allergies) including keeping specialized inventory, preventing cross contamination, and communicating with parents as needed.
  • Use of electronic systems to review, verify and approve hours worked and leave time.
  • Compliance requirements including monthly supervisor meetings, monthly safety training, USDA posting requirements, as well as preparation for passing state and health inspections.
  • Manage child care and summer food service programs, where applicable.
  • End of year inventory and closing kitchens for summer.
  • Maintains good public relations with students, parents, faculty, and community.
  • Maintains standards of dress, cleanliness and general appearance of self and employees per guidelines.
  • May be asked to perform district-wide support services in case of emergency situations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Directs and instructs all nutrition staff of the assigned building.
  • Is responsible for following the Progressive Discipline procedures working with the Nutrition Services Director and/or Human Resources to ensure proper steps are being followed
  • Makes recommendations for hires and involuntary terminations to the Nutrition Services Director, Superintendent and Human Resources.
  • Manages, approves and submits to payroll all timesheets, leave requests and schedule of nutrition staff assigned through designated software.

  • SafeServ and School Nutrition Association Certification preferred or willing to obtain within first six months of employment
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and,
  • 2-3 years experience in high quantity food service management, preferred


Hours/Schedule: This position is a full-time school-year position with hours from 6:00am - 2:00pm with an expectation to be here at a minimum of all days students are in session. Expectation for actual days worked will be determined by the Nutrition Services Director and Director of Business Services.

Rate of pay: The current base rate for this position is $17.00 per hour. Depending on previous work experience or any relatable education or certifications you may hold, this rate could increase by $1.00 to $2.00 more per hour. Final determination of applicants individual starting pay rate will be determined by the Business Office/HR.

Benefits: As a full-time school-year employee scheduled daily Monday through Friday, this position is eligible for full benefits including health, dental, and some supplemental products. All staff are automatically enrolled from day one, in the state sponsored retirement program, IPERS. The District contributes 9.44% of your wages to this. IPERS requires that you contribute 6.29% of your wages.

Paid Leaves/Holidays: The District offers both paid sick leave and paid personal leave along with 7 paid holidays; Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the day after, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and Memorial Day.
