This is a highly responsible position that conducts HIV planning activities. The Health Planner and Website Coordinator conducts needs assessments and provides reports to the planning bodies and the public to improve understanding of the HIV epidemic in the Philadelphia region. The person in this position also coordinates OHPs web presence, and is responsible for updating the website and social media platforms, as well as sending out email newsletters.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Plans, develops, conducts, and/or participates in needs assessments, surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews, epidemiologic studies, and other quantitative and qualitative tasks related to measuring and evaluating need for HIV-related services for people living with and at risk of HIV in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
  2. Uses quantitative and qualitative measures to collect and analyze epidemiological, surveillance, and other statistical and service data relevant to the local HIV epidemic. This may include but is not necessarily limited to data on or related to infectious diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancies, births, drug and alcohol use, behavioral risk activity, etc. Evaluates such data, and reports on its implications for HIV services to appropriate parties.
  3. Participates in the preparation, writing, and submission of annual HIV service plans, reports, and proposals to local, state, and federal agencies, and to the public.
  4. Participates in meetings of the HIV Integrated Planning Council and its workgroups and committees to report on analysis and evaluation of data collecting for the local and/or regional HIV planning process.
  5. Provides primary staff support for specific committees and workgroups as assigned, including for the Prevention Committee and Executive Committee of the HIV Integrated Planning Council.
  6. Maintains current versions of formal HIV Integrated Planning Council documents, including bylaws and any other official processes.
  7. Participates in local and regional meetings, such as New Jersey HIV Planning Group meetings and School Materials Review Panel meetings.
  8. Collaborates with consultants, advisors, and others in fulfilling planning objectives when necessary.
  9. Coordinates, maintains, and updates OHP website content. Works with planning support coordinator to ensure that online meeting calendars and meeting minutes are up-to-date. Coordinates and contributes to OHP blog content. Monitors web traffic using Google analytics.
  10. Coordinates and maintains all OHP-related social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, SlideShare, and emerging platforms as relevant. Produces original content for each platform as appropriate. Monitors analytics for each individual channel.
  11. Designs, writes, and disseminates email marketing newsletters to target audiences and planning body members. Maintains and grows email list. Monitors email analytics, updating format and content based on emerging trends and best practices.
  12. Works collaboratively with other staff, HIV Integrated Planning Council members, PDPH staff, and others to meet the overall objectives of the planning bodies.
  13. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by supervisors.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  1. Bachelors degree in public health, social sciences, or communications, or a combination of education and experience which clearly enables the applicant to fulfill the tasks of this position.
  2. Demonstrated leadership and organizational ability.
  3. Demonstrated experience in working positively with individuals and community groups in ethnic minority communities, in particular the African-American, Latino, and/or Asian communities.
  4. Excellent use of the English language; fluency in Spanish and/or Asian languages a plus.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SPSS, and other computer programs.
  6. Experience using a content management system, such as Wagtail, WordPress, or Squarespace.
  7. Experience using social media for professional communications.
  8. Experience with email marketing, ideally MailChimp.
