Description

As a Payroll Lead, you will oversee the payroll process within Biomerics. You will help build out a consolidated payroll function while ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees, compliance with relevant regulations, and effective communication with internal stakeholders. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a thorough understanding of payroll procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll Processing: Plan and execute end-to-end payroll processing activities, including data entry and calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of payroll administrators, providing guidance on complex payroll issues, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Compliance: Stay abreast of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance in all payroll processes and reporting. Implement necessary changes to policies and procedures to maintain compliance. Audit payroll processes and results to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • System Management: Manage and become SME on payroll systems and software, including Paylocity, ensuring they are up-to-date, efficient, and properly integrated with other HR systems. Troubleshoot any technical issues and collaborate with IT as needed.
  • Audits and Reporting: Conduct regular audits of payroll records to ensure accuracy and integrity. Generate payroll reports for management, finance, and HR departments as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, employee deductions, and adjustments. Prepare and distribute employees' pay stubs, W-2 forms, and other payroll-related documents. Ensure correct onboarding into payroll systems for new hires.
  • Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from employees and management. Provide timely and accurate responses to queries regarding pay, taxes, benefits, and other payroll matters.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously review payroll processes and procedures to identify opportunities for efficiency gains, cost savings, and risk reduction. Implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance overall payroll operations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll processing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, Workday, SAP, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
