The director will work closely with the SVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development to oversee the online, mass and retail channels of the business, for the North American sales of Candlewick Press, Holiday House, and Peachtree Publishing companies. This role will have 4 direct reports as well as junior staff members. They will be expected to develop, execute, and oversee the channel strategy plans and business goals in conjunction with account managers and peers. They will manage the day-to-day activities of these sales channels, set realistic targets, oversee the managers that report to them and work with colleagues in other departments with an eye towards sales growth. We are looking for a strong, communicative candidate to drive sales growth at accounts, to partner and strategize with the account managers as well as retail partners to grow the business. The candidate will have strong experience of using sales data to optimize opportunities within their area of responsibility. They will be able to combine data analysis with industry and market knowledge to help drive the business. There will be an expectation of monthly reporting and forecasting as well as account business reviews as needed. Attendance at key meetings as well as collaboration with the marketing, publicity, publishing and inventory teams is essential. The Director role should have significant depth of experience and a proven track record of increasing sales. Ideally experience in having sold any combination of the following is key: Amazon, B&N, Ingram, Independents, or Mass accounts. Requirements include: Computer skills including Excel that would entail analysis, data mining Communication skills both verbal and written Experienced in presenting in a group setting Able to prioritize workload, time management and delegation Flexibility in daily/monthly tasks Budget/Forecast management skills Negotiation skills The annual salary for this role is $125,000 to $135,000. This is a full-time position based in either our Somerville, MA or New York, NY office with the option for hybrid work.
