Locum Physician

Wellhart is partnering with a facility in Illinois to place a locum tenens Pathologist for a 21-day assignment starting June 5, 2025. The position requires weekday shifts with additional on-call responsibilities for night shifts and 24-hour coverage.

Start Date: June 5, 2025

LOA: 21 days

Schedule: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with on-call duties for nights and 24-hour coverage Facility Location: Illinois

Provider Needed: Pathologist

Requirements:

• Board Certification in Pathology

• Strong experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review

• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage a caseload

• Excellent communication skills

Duties:

• Sign out pathology cases, ensuring accurate and timely diagnoses

• Perform grossing on surgical specimens (with assistance from histotechs for small biopsies)

• Answer clinician calls regarding pathology-related questions and concerns

• Review and interpret peripheral blood smears as needed

• Address blood bank issues, including transfusion reactions

• Perform cellular adequacy checks for FNA and CT-guided biopsies

• Provide night call coverage and respond to urgent cases

Additional Information:

• Two histotechs available to assist with grossing small biopsies, preparing slides, and conducting special stains

• Responsible for managing blood bank issues and transfusion-related concerns

• Must be available for on-call duties during nights and provide 24-hour coverage as needed
