Locum Physician

We are seeking a Pathologist to provide temporary coverage while the primary candidate is on PTO. This is a part-time role covering two specific timeframes in June and August 2025.

• Sign out pathology cases with accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform grossing on surgical specimens, with histotech assistance for small biopsies and slide preparation.
• Provide expert consultations and respond to clinician inquiries.
• Review and interpret blood smears as necessary.
• Address transfusion-related issues and ensure proper blood bank practices.
• Conduct cellular adequacy assessments for FNAs and CT-guided biopsies.
• Participate in night call coverage and handle urgent cases.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, no overtime.
• Call Type: Night call and potential 24-hour call.
• EMR System: Cerner.
• Privileges Available: Full privileges provided.

• Board Certified/Eligible in Pathology.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in grossing, cytology, and general pathology case review.
• Illinois State Medical License required.
• CSR License Required.
• DEA License NOT required.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently manage caseloads.
• Strong communication skills for clinician interactions.

• Work in a supportive environment with experienced histotechs and clinical teams.
• Gain valuable experience in a medium-sized medical center (80 beds).
