New Horizons, Serving Individuals with Special Needs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the rights and life choices of individuals within the neurodiverse community and their families. With a mission to provide high-quality, innovative, and personalized services, we are seeking a Recruitment Specialist to join our team. As a Recruitment Specialist, you will play a vital role in identifying and attracting talented individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those with special needs.

In this position, you will collaborate with hiring managers to develop effective recruitment strategies and oversee the entire recruitment process, from sourcing and screening candidates to conducting interviews and extending job offers. Your expertise in talent acquisition will be essential in building a diverse and inclusive team that reflects our commitment to the neurodiverse community.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

 Recruiting Functions

1.       Using Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to coordinate the recruitment process and communicate with appropriate parties:  Candidates, HR Team, Hiring Managers.

2.       Monitors and updates Candidate’s status through the ATS pipeline until final resolution of either Hired or Archived.  Ensures information in ATS is accurate and current.

3.       Develops resources for an applicant pool by various and creative measures that include, but are not limited to, job fairs, college student enlistment, networking,  and social media.    

4.       Develops and maintains e-records of applications/resumes received to include interview notes, assessment tests, reference checks, drug screens, background screens and any information related to the applicants.

5.       Collaborates wit hiring managers to identify staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies.

6.       Ensures all open positions have appropriate authorization and approved wage range, current job description, and is posted internally per policy as directed by Sr. Director of Human Resources.

7.       Conducts initial screening of candidates to determine appropriateness and work availability. 

8.       Coordinates applicant interviews with hiring managers.  Schedules meeting date, time, and location.  Confirms interview with applicant and provides directions.  Greets applicant upon arrival.

9.       Reviews with Sr. Director of Human Resources successful candidates prior to sending offer letters.

10.   Processes background checks including reference checks on selected candidates and documents all responses for Sr. Director of Human Resources’ review and approval.

11.   Follows up with applicant to ensure each step of the post-offer process has been completed.

12.   Updates and posts Open Positions internally and externally at various locations, and provides updates for the Daily Report and New Horizons website.

13.   Responsible to review New Horizons employment website and informs the Communication Manager of current openings and outdated information in a timely manner.

14.   In addition to web-based recruitment tools, must actively participate in hiring events, networking, sourcing via social media, and conducting in-person interviews as needed.

15.   Conducts initial screening of current employees applying for an open position as needed.

16.   Coordinates interviews for internal candidates as approved by the Sr. Director of Human Resources, and communicates with employees on the status of their application as needed.

 

Onboarding/New Hire Orientation and Employee Separations

1.       Conducts New Hire Orientation for all new hires.

2.       Assists applicants with the online onboarding as needed.

3.       Coordinates an appropriate on-boarding experience for each new hire with the department supervisor.

4.       Ensures New Hire checklists, training, and paperwork is completed on a timely basis and included in the employee file.

5.       Coordinates the assignment of agency access and equipment per program director’s authorization for each position.

6.       Ensures new hire “Employee Information” form is signed by the employee, program director, and Sr. Director of Human Resources.

7.       Responsible for processing employee and consumer badges.

8.       Oversees timely and accurate entry of New Hire data into HRIS and timekeeping system.

9.       Confirms New Hires are successfully using timekeeping and scheduling applications.  Resolves delays as needed.

10.   Compiles HR metrics and prepares reports that pertain to recruitment, hiring and retention statistics.

11.   Gathers feedback on recruiting processes and makes recommendations for improvement.   

OTHER HR FUNCTIONS

1.       Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Human Resources and/or the Executive Vice-President.

2.       Assist with Special Events preparation.

3.       Performs duties as assigned.

Proven work experience as a Recruitment Specialist or similar role.

Must demonstrate flexibility , ability to multitask and organize work in an efficient and timely manner to meet the requirements of the job.

In-depth knowledge of recruitment practices and techniques, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing.

Computer proficiency, including Word and Excel, required.  Experience or ability to become master user of Applicant Tracking System is required.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to build relationships with candidates, hiring managers, and other stakeholders.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Knowledge of non-profit regulations and working with individuals with special needs is a plus.
