Responsibilities:
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs. Formulates systems to parallel overall business strategies. Experienced with business process reengineering and identifying new applications of technology to business problems to make business more effective. Familiar with industry standard business process mapping, and reengineering. Prepares solution options, risk identification, and financial analyses such as cost/benefit, ROI, buy/build, etc. Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. 

 

Under minimal supervision, performs engineering and technical work in support of client's Electric Grid Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition/Energy Management System (SCADA/EMS), Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Electric Systems workgroups and supporting technologies. Design, administer, maintain, secure, and improve performance of complex databases.

 

Essential duties and functions may include the following:

Implements vendor security patches, system issue fixes, and OS patches in all related ICS.

Supports 24/7 real-time control system integrity for the Distribution SCADA Systems and their databases, and system infrastructures.

Performs daily operation and maintenance of the Electric Grid SCADA (ADMS) control systems and their databases, and system infrastructures.

Design, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve advanced operational and performance related database issues, coordinate changes, and maintain database structures, and assist in developing policies and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment

Monitor capacity versus utilization and recommends appropriate action on a timely basis to avoid performance degradation

Perform database performance monitoring and auditing, implement efficiency improvements, and modify existing databases and database management systems

Performs engineering analysis, configuration, troubleshooting, and quality control of ICS equipment.

Coordinates and communicates with system operations, dispatchers, engineers, and field crews to troubleshoot any ADMS system issues.

Develops and implements System enhancements or modifications requested by stakeholders

Communicates and interfaces with members of the IT and user communities.

Perform other related duties as assigned

Experience in the field or in a related area as a senior Business Analyst (Technical). Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.  Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Information Technology (IT) or Industrial Control System (ICS) design or control system operations

System Administration Experience with Telvent/Schneider Electric ADMS software

Experience working with SQL database tools, environments, and query languages.

Knowledge and experience configuring and troubleshooting SQL server clusters for high availability
