HR Specialist

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Serve as internal point-of-contact for benefits and payroll questions
Administer various forms of employee leave (basic PTO, FMLA, PFML, etc.)
Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
Maintain employee handbook, code of conduct, and other policies
Manage annual open enrollment in partnership with our broker
Ensure compliance with state and local agencies for payroll purposes
Maintain compliant workers’ compensation policies
Maintain personnel files and HRIS
Monitor the complex and rapidly changing network of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, spot compliance issues, propose and then implement solutions
Support the annual compensation review process, providing benchmarking data and recommendations to management
Monitor our background check reviews and third-party ethics hotline
Provide guidance to managers on employee performance matters, including performance improvement plans and terminations
Various office management responsibilities on an as needed basis, including mailings, office lunches, and vendor management
WHO YOU ARE:
You are a people person and recognize that people are a company’s greatest asset. You have an impeccable eye for detail and a high standard for accuracy. You thrive in fast-paced environments and ambiguity does not scare you away.
You can juggle multiple tasks at once, keeping stakeholders informed and on track when necessary. You have experience with benchmarking, incentive plan design, and have familiarity with equity plans. You have a solid understanding of employment law and have administered employee benefits plans. You are thoughtful, responsive, dependable, and you keep immaculate records.
You have 3+ years in a similar role with payroll, compliance, and benefits administration responsibilities
You have experience navigating payroll systems, human resources information systems, and applicant tracking systems
You have 1+ year of experience working for a startup, preferably in the fintech/crypto space
You live in Austin, Texas
You are able to work a traditional Monday thru Friday schedule with a hybrid work schedule (3+ days in office)
Even Better:
You have a Bachelor’s degree
You are SHRM certified
You have experience with various HRIS and ATS systems
You have an interest in or basic understanding of bitcoin
