THE ROLE

Great Dane is currently seeking summer Engineering R&D Interns in the following areas: mechanical design projects, electrical design projects, and computer science for electromobility. The Engineering Intern - R&D assists Test and Design Engineers and Lab Technicians with tasks and projects relating to Great Dane’s products, testing equipment, and the facility.  Key projects may include cost reduction projects, new designs (Flat bed/Truck body), and electromobility/battery.

 

We are excited to welcome Engineering Interns to learn more about Great Dane and develop their future careers 

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Assists the engineers with designing the product.

Assists the engineers with data acquisition, data analysis, and presentation.

Assists engineers with evaluation of test equipment for functionality, repeatability, and safety.

Assists Engineers with small-scale testing and materials, fasteners, adhesives and electrical components. 

Assists with MRO restocking and facility upkeep.

Assists with maintenance of databases and spreadsheets.

Assists creation of procedures for testing activities.

Other Duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS) 

Education: Must be in current student pursuing Engineering degree at accredited college/universty; preferrably studying Mechanical engineering, Electrical engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, or recently graduated from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering area of study.

Experience: None required (however life skills in a technical field are definitely a plus).

Skills: MS Productivity software (MS Excel, Word, etc.).

CAD skills needed to work with Design Engineers. 

Communication Skills: Both technical and interpersonal communication skills are required.

Self Starter: Required.

Travel: None.

Work environment: Spend 85% of time in office environment and 15% of time in manufacturing environment. May be exposed to possible shop hazards including high noise, heavy machinery and shop traffic. Frequent use of a computer
