Overview:We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our finance team. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to payment terms and approval procedures. Verify purchase orders, reconcile discrepancies, and prepare payments for approval and processing. Maintain vendor records and address inquiries in a timely manner.

Accounts Receivable: Generate and send customer invoices promptly, accurately applying payments and reconciling customer accounts. Monitor accounts receivable aging, follow up on overdue payments, and communicate with customers regarding billing inquiries and disputes.

General Ledger Maintenance: Record financial transactions in the general ledger system, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures. Prepare and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis and reporting activities, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and budget vs. actual comparisons. Identify areas for improvement and recommend solutions to enhance financial performance and operational efficiency.

Expense Management: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Verify supporting documentation, reconcile corporate credit card statements, and assist with expense reimbursement processing.

Payroll Support: Assist with payroll processing activities, including reviewing timesheets, calculating hours worked, and verifying payroll data accuracy. Address payroll inquiries and discrepancies, ensuring compliance with regulations and internal policies.

Audit Support: Provide support during internal and external audits by preparing audit schedules, gathering requested documentation, and assisting with audit inquiries. Ensure compliance with audit requirements and assist in implementing audit recommendations as needed.

Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve efficiency, and strengthen internal controls. Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize workflow and reduce errors.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including finance, operations, and IT, to ensure alignment of accounting activities with organizational goals and objectives. Provide support and assistance to team members as needed.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or relevant certification preferred.

3+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel. Experience with ERP systems is a plus.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and reconcile discrepancies.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.

Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory compliance requirements.
