Senior Financial Analyst (Remote) — Inventory, COGS, and M&A Clean-Up
Location: Fully Remote (U.S.)
Company: Starkmont Financial, Inc.
Compensation: Up to $75,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time (W-2)
About Starkmont Financial
Starkmont Financial is a boutique accounting and advisory firm that helps companies navigate complex operational change and financial transformation. We specialize in M&A readiness, cash-to-accrual conversions, system migrations, and post-transaction clean-up.
Our clients span industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and entertainment — all facing unique accounting challenges tied to scale, transition, or restructuring. We bring clarity to data, structure to financial processes, and confidence to stakeholders.
At Starkmont, you'll work directly with senior leadership and see how your work translates into strategic outcomes, not just reports.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) who enjoys building order out of financial chaos. This role is ideal for someone who's technically strong in inventory accounting and COGS, but also understands monthly close, accrual adjustments, and financial statement reconstruction in dynamic client environments.
You'll be at the center of our M&A support and clean-up work helping clients move from incomplete, cash-based, or inconsistent accounting into audit-ready, accrual-based financials.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform monthly close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Support inventory and COGS analysis, including valuation, costing, adjustments, and rollforwards.
- Execute cash-to-accrual conversions and rebuild historical financials to GAAP standards.
- Prepare adjusted EBITDA and working capital analyses for M&A and due diligence purposes.
- Identify and documentrelated party transactions, rent normalization, and period-end adjustments.
- Partner with client teams to establish monthly close calendars, cutoff procedures, and inventory control processes.
- Develop supporting schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations for audits or quality of earnings (QoE) reviews.
- Contribute to ERP clean-up or migration projects (QuickBooks, Sage, Dynamics, etc.) to ensure financial data integrity.
- Present analytical findings and process improvement recommendations to Starkmont leadership and client stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis, ideally in manufacturing, distribution, or M&A environments.
- Deep understanding of inventory accounting, cost flows, and margin mechanics.
- Hands-on experience with monthly close processes, including reconciliations and accrual entries.
- Skilled in cash-to-accrual conversion and financial statement clean-up.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or Dynamics 365 preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently in complex data environments.
- Clear communicator who can translate technical accounting issues into actionable insights.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65, $75,000.00 per year

- Paid time off
