Networks Connect is conducting a search on behalf of our client, a well-established indsutrial solutions rep firm, who is on the look out for
Technical Sales Engineer – Plan & Spec.
This person will be responsible for developing and growing relationships with mechanical design engineers, contractors, and end users to influence the design and specification of boiler and heat transfer systems for new and retrofit projects.

This role combines technical expertise, consultative sales skills, and relationship management to ensure the company's engineered solutions are trusted and successfully implemented across the North Florida and Southeast Georgia region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive growth by developing new business opportunities with mechanical design engineers, consulting firms, and contractors.
  • Build early-stage influence in new construction and renovation projects to position company solutions during system design.
  • Generate and manage a robust pipeline of Plan & Spec projects through proactive outreach, relationship development, and follow-up.
  • Deliver accurate and timely project quotations, proposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and contractors to evaluate system needs, recommend equipment configurations, and ensure proper integration with project specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance on product selection, performance, and compliance with codes and industry standards.
  • Lead educational presentations, CEUs, and lunch-and-learn sessions to position the company as a trusted subject-matter expert.
  • Represent the company professionally at trade shows, industry associations, and networking events.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering, service, and project management teams to deliver cohesive project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Use CRM tools to document activities, manage opportunities, and report sales progress accurately.
  • Participate in ongoing product and application training to remain current on codes, standards, and system design best practices.
  • Contribute feedback from the field to improve internal processes, marketing strategies, and product support tools.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a strong plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in outside technical sales, manufacturer's representation, or consulting engineering (boiler, HVAC, or mechanical system experience preferred).
  • Proven ability to influence engineering specifications and navigate long-cycle sales processes.
  • Demonstrated success in consultative or solution-based selling environments.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, thermal energy, or process equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present technical topics clearly and confidently.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and standard business tools.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset, capable of working both independently and as part of a regional team.

Travel Requirements

Approximately 40–50% travel throughout North Florida and Southeast Georgia. Occasional overnight trips and participation in regional events or trade shows.
