Supervisor: Director of Human Resources

Location: Washington, DC, on-site

Classification:    Exempt/Salaried

 

Synopsis: The Human Resources (HR) Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department by performing a variety of professional-level HR functions. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this position plays a key role in managing and improving processes across recruitment, training, performance management, and HR workflows, while contributing to special projects that advance organizational goals. The ideal candidate is fully bilingual and proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Spanish, and able to effectively communicate with staff and stakeholders across all levels. The HR Generalist ensures that all HR practices align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization and comply with applicable HRSA, FQHC, and employment regulations.

Qualifications:  Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a healthcare or nonprofit environment.
  • Language: Fully bilingual (English and Spanish), with demonstrated proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in both languages.

 Preferred Education and Experience: 

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
  • Knowledge of HR laws and regulations (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, Title VII, OSHA, etc.
  • HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Data tracking, reporting, and documentation accuracy.
  • Communication (written and verbal), presentation, and facilitation.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State employment laws, Investigation Skills, HR technical knowledge in EEO, AA, FMLA, ADA, unemployment, and worker's compensation.
