The Role
As the Executive Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to oversee all daily kitchen operations. You will be a hands-on leader responsible for maintaining the highest culinary standards, managing inventory, and fostering a strong, efficient team. Consistent, reliable in-person attendance is a critical requirement for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Direct and supervise the culinary team, including Sous Chefs, line cooks, and prep cooks, ensuring efficient and collaborative kitchen operations.
- Quality & Safety: Implement and enforce rigorous quality control measures, strictly adhering to culinary standards, safety protocols, and health regulations.
- Inventory Management: Manage the full inventory cycle, including tracking, recording, timely replenishment of supplies, and strategic ordering to control food costs and minimize waste.
- Staff Development: Design and execute comprehensive cross-training programs to facilitate associate development across various kitchen stations.
- Sanitation: Ensure the consistent maintenance of superior sanitation and safety standards throughout all kitchen areas.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Culinary Arts degree or equivalent accredited professional training is required.
- Experience: Proven proficiency in advanced food preparation techniques, operation of commercial kitchen equipment, and adherence to comprehensive safety and sanitation protocols.
- Skills:
- Demonstrated capability in accurate inventory management, tracking, and efficient ordering.
- Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and organizational abilities.
- Excellent and clear verbal communication skills in English.
- Customer service orientation and ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, members, and guests.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Availability: Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
This is a physically active role. Candidates must be able to sit, stand, and walk throughout the work area daily, use hands to handle tools and controls, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities (close, distance, peripheral, depth) are also required.
