Events & Member Engagement Manager

SUMMARY: The Events & Member Engagement manager is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of all association-hosted events, while advancing programs and initiatives that strengthen member engagement and retention. This position plays a key role in fostering meaningful connections among members through events, volunteer opportunities, and committee involvement.
Serves as a staff liaison to several GLAR committees and workgroups, ensuring effective communication, accountability, and alignment with the Association's strategic priorities. The role works collaboratively with the Membership Department, volunteer leadership, and staff across departments to deliver impactful, mission-driven experiences that enhance member value and participation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Events:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute high-quality in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including installations, networking mixers, conferences, and educational programs.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for events, overseeing all logistics and resolving issues as they arise.
- Develop and maintain detailed event timelines, task lists, and budgets; track expenditures and reconcile post-event costs.
- Negotiate and manage vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance, and positive relationships.
- Oversee event registration, attendee communications, and customer service throughout the event process.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create event promotions, digital materials, and post-event content.
- Prepare event evaluations and reports to measure outcomes, member satisfaction, and areas for improvement.
- Ensure brand consistency, professionalism, and alignment with GLAR's mission across all events.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Member Engagement:
- Partner with the Membership Department to develop and implement strategies that increase member participation in events, committees, and association programs.
- Analyze engagement data to identify trends, track participation, and inform future initiatives.
- Support the development of new member onboarding, recognition programs, and volunteer pathways to deepen involvement.
- Foster connections between members and staff, promoting a culture of inclusion, professionalism, and service.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to align engagement initiatives with GLAR's strategic plan.
Committee Relations/Liaison:
- Serve as the staff liaison to assigned committees and workgroups, supporting volunteer leaders in fulfilling their objectives.
- Coordinate all committee logistics, including scheduling, agenda preparation, materials distribution, and post-meeting follow-up.
- Maintain accurate meeting minutes and records of committee activity.
- Ensure committee work aligns with organizational policies, bylaws, and strategic goals.
- Build strong relationships with volunteer leaders, encouraging accountability, collaboration, and transparency.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in event planning, member engagement, or program coordination, preferably within a nonprofit or membership-based organization.
Skills
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in standard office and event planning software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, registration platforms)
- Working knowledge of platforms like Salesforce, RAMCO, or other association management systems (AMS) for tracking member engagement and event participation.
- Comfortable managing virtual meetings via Zoom or comparable platforms.

- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.

Bonus Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an association, REALTOR organization, or trade group is a plus.
- Familiarity with the real estate industry or member-driven nonprofits.
Work Environment
- This is a full-time position on-site in Culver City.
- Staff Office Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
- Reliable transportation is required for off-site meetings, site visits, and events.
- Evening and weekend work is sometimes required to support association events, programs, and committee meetings. The manager is expected to be present and actively engaged during all major events, which may include early mornings, late evenings, and extended hours to ensure successful execution and member satisfaction.
- Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as workload may fluctuate based on the event calendar and organizational needs.
- Other duties may be assigned to support the Association's strategic goals and daily operations.
