Aquatech has an immediate need for a full-time Technical Manager of Performance Chemicals to work in our Houston, TX office. The hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. This position will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered an Exempt employee.

Job Description:

  • Engage with clients to define process performance goals and constraints across boilers, cooling, membranes, process water, and wastewater.
  • Design and optimize chemical treatment programs; provide alternative solutions based on site data and objectives.
  • Author technical proposals that clearly state the value proposition, scope/KPIs, and acceptance criteria.
  • Prepare cost estimates and pricing inputs in partnership with sales/finance.
  • Join customer meetings with sales as the technical lead during discovery, trials, and start-up after the award.
  • Create and deliver technical content and training for sales/customers; maintain PDS and SDS packages.
  • Perform plant surveys and support field trials (test plans, sampling, success metrics); consolidate results and recommendations.
  • Monitor program performance at key accounts; run periodic reviews and drive corrective actions.
  • Coordinate lab/validation (internal or 3rd party) to meet turnaround targets; standardize methods and reporting.
  • Coordinate tolling/3rd party manufacturing (schedules, yields/quality, documentation) with operations/supply.
  • Support logistics/route planning for trials and initial supply; assist with basic buying & inventory control (POs, safety stock targets, lead times) alongside ops.
  • Mentor/coordinate Startup/Field Support resources as needed; help set service standards and playbooks.
  • Develop a technical services team 

Skill Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to foster new relationships with existing and potential clients while delivering a high level of client service
  • Ability to maintain a high level of organization through both written and verbal communication with clients, direct reports, and other employees
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver on sales goal metrics
  • Strong and demonstrated technical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials, or related (advanced degree a plus).
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in technical operations/applications/commercialization in chemicals or adjacent industries.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and optimizing chemical treatment programs and solving plant-level performance issues.
  • Experience coordinating field trials/plant surveys, labs/validation, and external tollers/CMOs.
  • Working knowledge of costing/pricing inputs, BOMs, and logistics basics; strong documentation discipline.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication (sales, suppliers, labs, operations); strong customer presence.
  • Travel: Approximately 30% of the time
