Position Summary
As an independent contractor, the Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) provides professional counseling and treatment services to individuals with substance use disorders in a virtual telehealth environment. The LCDC serves as the primary contact for client care, delivering evidence-based group and individual counseling while maintaining full compliance with Texas HHSC regulations (Texas Administrative Code, Title 26, Chapter 564).
Contractors must ensure that their virtual environment upholds the same professionalism and quality expected in an in-person setting — including maintaining a polished appearance, appropriate attire, and a presentable broadcast settingsuitable for clients and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver group and individual counseling sessions via secure virtual platforms.
- Document, track, and report on client progress, including notes, assessments, and required documentation.
- Maintain strict adherence to professional ethics and LCDC scope of practice.
- Act as a liaison between clients, treatment teams, and external support services.
- Participate in required trainings, virtual meetings, and case reviews as scheduled.
- Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and treatment integrity at all times.
Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies
- Demonstrated professionalism and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficient in technology platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Ability to manage confidential sessions in a quiet, distraction-free setting.
- Knowledge of Texas Administrative Code and HHSC standards for chemical dependency counseling.
- Adaptability and professionalism in a fast-evolving telehealth environment.
Contractor Requirements
- Must provide and maintain your own equipment, including:
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
- Personal computer with camera and microphone
- Professional backdrop or suitable space for virtual broadcast
- Must maintain a professional appearance and an organized, presentable environment during sessions.
- Responsible for all personal taxes, insurance, and expenses associated with performing contracted services.
- No employment benefits are included (this is an independent contractor position).
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Active Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) credential (Texas).
- Valid driver's license (for identification purposes).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (may obtain within 30 days of contracting).
- Completion of all required regulatory training.
