Community Relations Coordinator

Location: AMLD District Office El Salido Parkway, Austin, Texas 78750 Employment Type: Full-time (Monday-Friday, 9am-6pm)

About This Opportunity

We're seeking a warm, professional Community Relations Coordinator to be the welcoming face of our limited district. In this pivotal role, you'll create positive first impressions for residents, support our community programs, and help maintain the smooth operation of our district services. You'll be the friendly connection between our district and the community we serve.

How You'll Make an Impact

Building Community Connections

  • Create a consistently welcoming environment for all residents and visitors

  • Serve as the friendly first point of contact, providing helpful guidance and information

  • Represent our district values through every interaction

  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with our diverse community

Supporting Community Services

  • Help residents access amenities by processing pool passes and facility keys

  • Guide community members through program registration and event participation

  • Facilitate facility, park and pool rentals with attention to detail

  • Provide knowledgeable answers to community questions

  • Apply conflict resolution techniques when addressing resident concerns

Administrative Excellence

  • Maintain accurate records in our digital systems

  • Process financial transactions with precision and accountability

  • Organize documentation for district programs and services

  • Ensure the office is properly opened, maintained, and secured daily

  • Track multiple deadlines and commitments simultaneously

  • Create and maintain efficient filing systems

Creating a Welcoming Environment

  • Maintain an inviting, organized reception area

  • Provide administrative support to the District Manager

  • Assist with communication materials and technology needs

  • Coordinate small-scale events and activities as needed

What You'll Bring

Experience We Value

  • 5+ years in customer service or reception roles, particularly working with the public and processing financial transactions, managing schedules, contracts or legal documents.

  • Associate or bachelor's degree (or equivalent practical experience)

  • Familiarity with parks, recreation facilities, or public office environments

  • Experience with municipal or government operations (preferred)

  • Event coordination experience (preferred)

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Experience with community management or recreation software systems

  • Basic database management skills

  • Comfort with digital communication tools and social media platforms


Knowledge of point-of-sale systems and handling agreements

Interpersonal Abilities

  • A naturally warm, professional demeanor

  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written

  • Active listening skills and empathetic communication

  • Ability to explain policies and procedures clearly to non-technical audiences

  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques

  • Bilingual abilities, particularly Spanish, are a plus

Problem-Solving Capabilities

  • Strong attention to detail and good judgment

  • Ability to prioritize effectively while maintaining quality service

  • Resourcefulness in finding information or solutions

  • Ability to triage inquiries and direct them appropriately

  • Good judgment about when to escalate issues to management
