About the HVAC R Technician:

With minimal supervision from the Maintenance Building Supervisor, the HVAC/R Technician performs corrective and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment. Repairs and/or replaces equipment as necessary to provide an interruption-free conditioned environment to residents, staff, and visitors of the Masonic Home of Virginia. Rotates on-call to provide emergency service to the home and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities of the HVAC R Technician:

  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems to include ice machines and commercial coolers.
  • Maintains accurate records of preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required by regulatory agencies and departmental policies.
  • Drives truck to and from work site; loads and unloads trucks of materials and equipment, and carries to and from work sites.
  • Provides assistance with miscellaneous grounds projects such as snow removal, pavement repair, tent erection and disassembly, and special activities set up.
  • Rotates On-Call, as needed, to provide emergency service to the Home.

Qualifications of the HVAC R Technician:

  • EPA Universal Technician certification is required
  • Minimum of five or more years' experience in HVAC/R maintenance in residential and commercial systems is preferred. Knowledge of commercial and residential heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, including reciprocating, scroll, centrifugal, and screw configurations. Knowledge and experience with electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic controls.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
