Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Overview

We are a growing, private outpatient mental health practice located in Miami, Florida, seeking a compassionate and motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our dynamic team. This position is hybrid telehealth and in-person. In this role, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive mental health care to patients across various age groups, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of psychiatric disorders. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care while adhering to ethical and legal standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments for new and existing patients.
• Formulate, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients.
• Provide ongoing medication management, including prescribing, adjusting, and monitoring psychiatric medications based on clinical response and side effects.
• Deliver evidence-based care for a range of psychiatric conditions.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, medication adherence, side effects, and wellness strategies.
• Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely documentation of patient interactions using the practice's EHR system, in compliance with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with administrative staff and billing teams to ensure appropriate documentation for insurance claims and follow-up care.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training or quality improvement initiatives.
• Uphold professional standards of care, ethical practices, and cultural competence in all patient interactions.

Skills

• Understanding of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with the ability to incorporate brief psychotherapy interventions into patient encounters—not solely focused on medication management.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities, ensuring efficient documentation, follow-up, and patient care coordination in a busy outpatient setting.
• Commitment to patient privacy, professionalism, and strict adherence to HIPAA and ethical guidelines.
• Technologically proficient, with the ability to navigate electronic health records (EHR) and virtual platforms confidently and efficiently.

Requirements:

• Active and unrestricted Florida APRN license.
• Valid DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through ANCC.
• Active NPI number.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must maintain active professional liability (malpractice) insurance.
• Flexible availability: Minimum commitment of four (4) days per week, with the freedom to set your own hours on those days. Additional days may be added at your discretion.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency is highly preferred.

Job Type: Contract

• Annual salary range: $129, $135,000.00 per year, subject to the number of patients seen and days worked.
