Job Summary:This position oversees the local shipping/receiving, warehousing, and related personnel for Gleason operations with regular interactions with internal and external stakeholders to execute daily operational requirements. Assists in the development of logistics strategies, including the standardization of policies, procedures, processes, metrics, and business practices within Gleason; Interacts with local management, supply chain, service, sales, and contract management to support movement of equipment and other related materials. Monitors and reports on Key Performance Indicators & metrics inclusive of operational performance, logistics supplier performance, industry trends, and customer satisfaction relative to delivery. Job Details:Responsibilities:Manages a team of shipping & receiving clerks, material handlers, and warehouse personnel to ensure fulfillment and warehousing activities are completed in an efficient and timely manner Responsible for the hiring, development, and retention of staff in support of continuous improvement, succession planning, and future business growthProvides training and mentorship to staff on an as-required, as needed basisEnsure and facilitate open lines of communication with internal departments and staffEnsure all safety, regulatory, and compliance measures are met within corporate and statutory guidelinesEnsure that all processes are properly mapped, documented, and auditedWorks hands-on to accomplish daily shipping and fulfillment requirements in support of internal and external stakeholdersCommunicate with internal customers on inventory and fulfillment issuesResponsible for inbound/outbound freight and small parcel activity and continued improvements In depth knowledge of state, federal, and international shipping requirements including proper road permits and classifications Work with the Materials Manager and Trade Compliance Anaylst to ensure most effective means of transportation is used for incoming and outgoing shipments of product Participate in negotiations and contract management of freight-based spending in conjunction with the Materials Manager and Commodity ManagerEnsure compliance to Gleason's routing guide for inbound and outbound freight.Work directly with UPS, FedEx, and other common carriers on shipment issuesCoordinate with insurance providers and internal management to execute root cause/corrective action activities for freight damage. Responsible for all material storage and retrieval within the warehouseResponsible for daily cycle counts and reconciliation Recommend and implement process improvements and cost reduction opportunities via new warehousing methods or technologies i.e. RF or barcode scanning technology Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basisMonitor and report supplier performance for all freight service providers. Monitor and report on industry trends affecting transportation. Recommend alternatives, as necessary. Skill Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics Management or other relevant fieldMinimum of 3 years direct control of logistics organization in an international companyExperience with traffic scheduling, shipping, cargo packaging and managementExperience with project freight moving both domestically and internationally Demonstrated competency in warehouse performance management including cycle counting and inventory qualityExperience with SAP is a plusFamiliarity with Duty Draw backUnderstanding of INCO terms A proven track record of building and developing a strong warehousing and transportation organization and aligning internal resources with external customer expectationsMust possess strong leadership and employee relations skills with a focus on engagement.Proven success in a fast-paced environment, with ability to handle multiple tasksCritical thinking, decision making, complex problem solving, project management, ability to lead, motivate and develop skills among colleagues.Must be able to analyze and present fact-based management reporting with recommendations.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skillsProcess management and documentation skillsExperience in implementation of electronic warehouse tracking systems is a plus (i.e. RF or barcode technology) Demonstrated expertise in all transportation modes (air, ocean, parcel, LTL, etc.)Experience with and knowledge of domestic and international shipping requirements i.e. proper licenses, permits, border controls etc. Experience with C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) a plusThe salary range in this posting depends on qualifications and experience.
