Job Overview – What You Will Do
The SGO currently has an extraordinary opportunity for an expert, data-driven marketing and communications professional to join the team as the Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications – Membership, Programs, Publications. We are looking for an individual to bring their passion and excitement to our fast-paced and ever-changing environment. The successful incumbent will be adaptable, focused, and collaborative and will embrace change to ensure they meet their goals and the goals of the SGO and FWC.
The Senior Marketing & Communications Manager – Membership, Programs & Publications, serves as the strategic lead for marketing and communications initiatives that engage Society of Gynecologic Oncology (SGO) members and promote programs, resources, and organizational initiatives. This role oversees the planning, creation, and distribution of editorial content across SGO's owned media channels, including newsletters, blogs, and news features—and ensures consistent, member-centered messaging aligned with SGO's mission and strategic priorities.
In this role, you will apply your expertise in marketing strategy, editorial development, and communications to strengthen member engagement, drive awareness of SGO's programs and leadership opportunities, and enhance visibility of advocacy, governance, and professional initiatives.
The Senior Manager collaborates closely with the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager – Meetings, Events & Education and the Senior Marketing & Communications Manager – Cause Marketing & Public Engagement (FWC) to ensure unified messaging, brand consistency, and cross-organizational alignment across all campaigns, programs, and initiatives.
This position has responsibilities in the areas of marketing and communications that promote member programs and enhance member engagement; managing editorial content; analyzing data and applying findings to decision making; and managing marketing production processes and vendors. Cross functional collaboration is critical to success in this role.
Requirements for Success
The ideal candidate will have experience and skills as follows:
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or healthcare setting.
- Experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across email, social media, digital, and print.
- Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (Higher Logic/Informz, Constant Contact), website CMS (WordPress), and social media platforms.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and tools, including experience developing and managing social media campaigns.
- Familiarity with paid media, digital advertising platforms, or SEO/SEM (role-specific emphasis).
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience using analytics and reporting tools to inform data-driven decision-making.
- Proven ability to develop and lead strategic marketing and communications initiatives independently.
- Experience advising senior leaders and influencing decision-making through data, storytelling, and marketing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage teams or vendors, and oversee budgets at a senior level.
The work of the SGO is conducted primarily in a remote office environment with occasional requirements to be onsite for group meetings and events. Travel is required approximately 5-7 days per year.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience. The hiring range for this position is $90,000 to $98,000 annually. Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability benefits; vacation time, sick time, 11 named holidays and 3 floating holidays, and parental leave.
