Family Ministries' Mission:
In partnership with families, we disciple young people to follow Jesus with their whole lives - formed in Christ, rooted in community, and living for others.

This role is a vital part of the Family Ministries' Team providing support to the team and leadership to volunteers. The Coordinator helps shape meaningful programming, strengthen communication, and collaborate across UPC so that families are welcomed, supported, and engaged in the life of the church community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Alongside the Director of Children's Ministry, leads ministry to kids, and volunteer teams, which includes Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings

  • Meet with volunteers to equip them for their work with kids and support them in their roles.

  • Greets, connect with, and support families in their child(ren)'s faith formation.
  • Facilitates standard safety protocols for kids and families.
  • Serves with teams, during kids or youth programming leading a lesson, small group, or activity.

  • Recruits and connects with current and future FM volunteers.

  • Provides administrative support for Family Ministries including running attendance reports, booking rooms, and overseeing event, class, and trip sign-ups/registrations.
  • Works with the Communications Department to update the website, social media, and general church wide advertising campaigns.
  • Assists with planning and leading Day Camp and other FM events (i.e. Park Nights, Family Advent Night, Kindred Christmas, etc.).
  • Attends department meetings, team devotionals, and UPC staff meetings.
  • Works in partnership with other departments on church-wide projects, and engages in the broader life of the church.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Is an active congregant of UPC who participates in corporate worship.
  • Deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ and a theology consistent with the mission of UPC. Has read and understood the Essential Tenets and agreed to support them in the work they do at UPC.
  • Cross-cultural competency and awareness.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and time management skills.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication with a commitment to developing leadership skills.
  • Dedication to ministry with children, youth, and families.
  • Works well with team members.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical ability to walk stairs, work on feet or sit for extended time, and lift 20 pounds.
  • Ability to pick up small children.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Energy and enthusiasm for a varied work schedule (late nights/mornings), including Sundays.

SPECIAL/OTHER

  • Position required to be on-site Sundays from 7:45am – 1pm and Wednesday evenings.
  • Opportunity to work remotely up to 1 day a week.
  • This position is subject to a 90-day introductory period, during which performance and mutual fit will be evaluated.
