We are a landscape supply company that has been providing innovative products and services to satisfied customers for 42 years. We produce and sell more mulch in Ohio than any other manufacturer. Our top-quality products are certified by the national Mulch and Soil Council.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a Production Manager to oversee the operations of our mulch production facility in Columbus, Ohio and report to the President. The main areas of focus will be to improve productivity of mulch production and to coordinate with transportation to ensure efficient flow of raw materials and finished product. We are looking for an innovator who is willing to grow with us The production manager will supervise, lead and coach direct and indirect reports to meet production, quality and safety goals. (This is a hands-on manager position, not an office role.)
Responsibilities
- Oversee production activities in a 7 day a week operation
- Manage our 50-acre outdoor mulch production facility
- Manage the supervisor of our 5-bagging lines (indoors)
- Manage the maintenance supervisor and industrial mechanics
- Primarily managing by being present in the production areas, not sitting behind a desk in the corporate office
- Make production improvements and implement cost saving initiatives
- Managing payroll and balancing overtime to appropriate levels
- Analyze issues, anticipate and resolve problems, recommend improvements and implement required changes
- Promote a safe working environment
- Communication with internal departments on production goals and deadlines
- Coach, mentor, evaluate and discipline employees as necessary
Qualifications
- At least 3 years in a similar manufacturing and/or operations environment in a leadership role
- Experience making process improvements to the manufacturing process
- Ability to direct and implement environmental, health and safety policies and procedures
- Understanding of Industrial Maintenance
- Mulch manufacturing industry experience preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
