Summary
As an Accounting Assistant at Life Homes, you will play a vital role in managing our financial records and ensuring the accuracy of our accounting processes. This position is essential to supporting our mission by maintaining financial integrity, which allows us to focus on providing care and opportunities for those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Support the preparation of financial reports and statements for decision-making.
- Learn and utilize accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop knowledge a plus).
- Provide support for tax preparation and compliance tasks.
- Monitor transactions for accuracy and adherence to internal policies.
- Work closely with team members to improve efficiency and financial processes.
- Contribute data and support to budgeting activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or coursework in Accounting/Finance a plus).
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting principles (through classes, training, or experience).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word,); willingness to learn accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Good organizational and filing skills to manage both digital and paper records.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of accounting, with interest in long-term career development.
