Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented CNC Lathe Setup/Operator to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC lathes to produce precision components that meet strict quality standards. Your expertise will ensure efficient production processes, optimal tooling configurations, and adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities

  • Set up CNC lathe machines by installing tooling, fixtures, and workpieces according to detailed blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Program CNC lathes using CAM software, ensuring accurate machining operations aligned with engineering drawings.
  • Operate CNC lathes safely and efficiently, monitoring machine performance throughout production runs to maintain high-quality output.
  • Conduct precise measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances in accordance with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues by adjusting machine parameters or tooling setups, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of tooling and machine components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics for complex parts fabrication.
  • Collaborate with team members on tasks involving materials handling, inspection, or packaging as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of setup procedures, production logs, quality control reports, and inspection records.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements and participating in safety training sessions.

Skills

  • Proficiency in operating CNC lathes with Fanuc/Mitsubishi controls or similar systems; experience with CNC milling machines is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming using CAD/CAM software to create or modify machining code.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints and technical drawings accurately; familiarity with GD&T principles is essential.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of CNC machinery, air and coolant filtration, and standard maintenance procedures.
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other quality control tools.
  • Ability to operate hand tools and basic math skills for precise measurements and calculations.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, Autodesk Products or similar CAD software for part design review is desirable.
  • Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts for materials handling within the manufacturing areas is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively across departments involved in the manufacturing processes.
