We are dedicated to providing an experience that allows the intern to experience life at Tesla by including them in projects that are critical to their team's success.The Technical Writer Intern will join the Tesla Industrial Energy Product Management team, which is responsible for the large-scale industrial energy storage products, including Megapack and Powerpack, that fulfill a key role in Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. This team defines, launches, and maintains products across global markets, while supporting the ongoing development of technical content and collateral for global sales, finance, engineering, and above all, Tesla customers.This internship is a unique opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals who are pioneering technologies that will transform the energy landscape. You will work with various subject matter experts across disciplines, including project engineers, software developers, IT managers, and other technical writers to develop and own content and content processes that serve a variety of battery hardware, power systems, and related software functionality. The content itself meets the highest standards of quality for a partner audience and can include a variety of deliverables such as specifications, installation guides, design manuals, owner's manuals, graphics and videos, terminology databases, and API documentation, all of which put the end-user first.Location: Palo Alto, CAWhat You'll DoInterview and collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and document information and content processesDevelop concise and targeted technical content using a variety of authoring toolsEdit, revise, and transform raw content from a variety of sourcesInteract directly with hardware and/or software products to understand how they work in order to create content more effectively with the end-user in mindDrive consistent use of terminology and foster tools that help others do the sameFueled by this work, project-manage processes and play a key role in establishing programs that optimize and accelerate these processesEmbrace change and growthWhat You'll BringCurrently pursuing a Degree in Technical Writing, Technical Communications, or Professional or IT Communications with a strong technical focus, or related academic disciplineExemplary communication skills, with the highest proficiency in English grammar, spelling, and punctuationStrong knowledge of content development tools such as DITA-based XML authoring tools, Microsoft Word, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat ProExperience using collaboration and productivity tools such as Atlassian JIRA and Confluence, and the Microsoft Office SuiteExperience with Ux writing principles and best practices in digital application information architectureAgility and ability to pivot, manage conflicting priorities, drop and take up work as needed, and learn new thingsStrong curiosity about and passion for Tesla's missionAbility to communicate effectively with team members (face-to-face, virtually, and via e-mail and chat)Compensation and BenefitsBenefitsAs a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for:Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans.
