Position Overview:
The Benefits Manager at Bragg Companies leads the strategic planning, administration, and optimization of employee benefits programs across the organization. This role ensures compliance, cost-effectiveness, and employee satisfaction while supporting the company's mission to attract and retain top talent. The Benefits Manager supervises the benefits team, partners with leadership to design competitive offerings, and serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries. By fostering a culture of wellness, communication, and efficiency, this role directly contributes to employee engagement and organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Benefits Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive benefits strategies that align with organizational goals, employee needs, and budget considerations.
- Program Administration: Oversee all aspects of benefits administration, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, and wellness programs.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, and other applicable laws.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, and consultants, negotiating contracts, evaluating performance, and ensuring service quality.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor benefits staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure efficient program delivery.
- Employee Communication & Education: Develop and implement benefits communication plans, lead open enrollment, and provide ongoing education to employees to ensure understanding and engagement.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze benefits data, prepare reports, and provide insights to leadership for strategic decision-making, cost management, and program improvement.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance benefits administration processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in benefits administration, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Certifications: Professional in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs, compliance requirements, HRIS/benefits systems, and vendor management. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with the ability to guide teams, influence stakeholders, and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience managing benefits for multi-state or unionized workforces.
- Familiarity with construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries.
- Experience with wellness program design, benefits benchmarking, or strategic benefits planning.
Work Environment:
This position is primarily office-based at our California headquarters with hybrid work flexibility. Occasional travel to other company locations may be required for benefits meetings, training sessions, or vendor consultations.
Reporting Structure:
The Benefits Manager reports directly to the Director of Human Resources and oversees the benefits team. This role collaborates closely with Payroll, HR, and Finance departments to ensure seamless benefits operations across the company.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $105,000 - $115,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
- Benefits Package: Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, wellness programs, professional development opportunities, and other company-specific perks.
