Strava is the app for active people. With over 150 million athletes in more than 185 countries, Strava is where connection, motivation, and personal bests thrive. No matter your activity, gear, or goals, we help you find your crew, crush your milestones, and keep moving forward. Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.
Lifecycle marketing is a key part of that mission. We're looking for a Retention Specialist to join our Growth Marketing team to develop and implement strategies to help activate, engage, and retain our diverse user base. You'll work cross-functionally with Product, Design, Engineering and other teams across Strava to test, iterate, and scale experiments that deepen our retention efforts.
You Will Be Successful Here By:- Driving Results with a Strategic Mindset: You have a strong grasp of complex lifecycle systems, can identify linkages and interdependencies within initiatives, and apply industry knowledge with creative thinking to uncover insights that drive retention in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicating Effectively: You build influence through clear and concise communication, proactively seek diverse perspectives, and ensure timely and relevant updates.
- Collaborating Cross-Functionally: You work seamlessly across teams to align on shared goals, share customer insights and best practices, and output high quality work.
- Thriving Through Change: You adapt confidently to change, analyze complex challenges with a collaborative mindset, and proactively engage stakeholders to drive creative solutions.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office —roughly three days per week.
What You'll Do:- Develop and implement innovative retention strategies to increase customer loyalty and reduce churn, from strategy to implementation.
- Analyze customer data to discover trends and insights that can be employed to improve our retention efforts.
- Collaborate with teams from different departments to create and implement top-notch marketing strategies focused on enhancing customer retention.
- Monitor and report on key retention metrics, providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed about current industry trends and effective strategies in retention marketing to ensure our company remains innovative and competitive.
- 3-4 years of experience in growth or lifecycle marketing, ideally working with owned channels (email, push, in-app)
- A data-driven mindset with experience designing and analyzing A/B tests
- Understanding of creative best practices for email design and copy
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Ability to manage competing priorities based on their impact and value with some support from manager
- A positive, collaborative attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
What would be ideal, but not required?
- Experience running email & push marketing programs across triggers, blast campaigns, and transactional messaging is preferred
- Experience working with dynamic HTML email templates - ability to code basic HTML
- Iterable and Tableau experience is plus
