Position Summary:
Forest Oaks Country Club is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Pool Operations to oversee all aspects of the pool facilities, including daily operations, staff management, maintenance, and program development. The ideal candidate will possess a Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification, have strong leadership and management experience, and be dedicated to providing the highest level of service and safety for our members. This position requires an individual who can strategically manage pool operations while fostering a culture of excellence, member satisfaction, and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Management & Leadership:
- Oversee and manage all operational aspects of the pool facilities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and member satisfaction.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve pool services, programs, and member engagement.
- Supervise, motivate, and evaluate the performance of pool staff, including lifeguards, attendants, and maintenance personnel.
- Collaborate with the Director of Recreation to align pool operations with the overall goals and objectives of the country club.
- Pool Maintenance & Safety Oversight:
- Ensure the proper functioning of all pool systems, including filtration, water circulation, and chemical treatments.
- Regularly assess the pool's condition and coordinate necessary repairs, upgrades, or improvements.
- Monitor water quality by conducting routine testing and ensure all safety regulations are met.
- Stay up-to-date on all relevant pool industry standards, health codes, and safety regulations, ensuring full compliance at all times.
- Program Development & Member Engagement:
- Develop and implement pool-related programs, such as swim lessons, fitness classes, and recreational activities, designed to enhance the member experience.
- Organize and promote special events, swim meets, and other pool-related activities for members of all ages.
- Engage with club members to receive feedback, resolve concerns, and enhance the overall pool experience.
- Staff Management & Training:
- Lead the recruitment, training, and scheduling of all pool staff, ensuring adequate coverage for peak and off-peak times.
- Foster a team-oriented environment with a strong emphasis on professionalism, safety, and customer service.
- Provide ongoing training in emergency procedures, safety protocols, and member interaction.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and offer coaching to enhance the skills and effectiveness of staff.
- Financial & Operational Oversight:
- Manage the pool budget, including overseeing expenses related to maintenance, staffing, supplies, and programs.
- Implement cost-control measures while maintaining a high-quality pool environment.
- Prepare and submit regular reports to the Director of Recreation regarding operational performance, staffing, program participation, and financial status.
- Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed, including those for water safety, emergency response, and facility cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, water quality testing, staff certifications, and incident reports.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to pool safety, sanitation, and accessibility.
Qualifications:
- Certifications (Required):
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification required.
- Lifeguard Training & Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent) required.
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification required.
- First Aid certification required.
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training certification preferred.
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification preferred for those involved in teaching swim programs.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pool operations, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Extensive knowledge of pool management, maintenance, and safety standards.
- Proven experience managing budgets, staff, and operations in a high-volume or recreational setting.
- Experience with program development and community engagement is preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to effectively address member concerns and feedback.
- Knowledge of pool maintenance systems, water chemistry, and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as cleaning and pool maintenance.
- Ability to stand, walk, and supervise pool activities for extended periods.
