Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prep Cook/Dishwasher to join our culinary team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, organized kitchen environment while assisting with food preparation and ensuring the smooth operation of meal service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food safety, kitchen cleanliness, and supporting culinary operations in a fast-paced setting. Previous experience in food handling, restaurant, or catering environments is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to develop culinary skills and gain valuable experience in the food industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and basic cooking under supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment by washing and sanitizing regularly
  • Support meal preparation activities in accordance with menu plans and dietary guidelines
  • Follow food safety protocols to ensure proper handling, storage, and sanitation of all ingredients and equipment
  • Organize and stock kitchen supplies to ensure efficient workflow during meal service
  • Assist with plating and presentation of food items as needed
  • Help with general kitchen maintenance, including cleaning workstations and ensuring compliance with health standards
  • Support catering events or special meal services as required

Experience

  • Previous experience in dietary departments, dietary aide roles, or food service environments is preferred
  • Familiarity with menu planning, food preparation, and cooking techniques is advantageous
  • Experience working in restaurants or the food industry provides a strong foundation for this role
  • Skills in knife handling, meal preparation, and maintaining food safety standards are highly desirable
  • Knowledge of food handling regulations and sanitation practices is beneficial
  • Prior experience with catering or serving can be an asset for supporting various culinary operations

This position is vital for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and efficiency within our kitchen while providing opportunities for professional growth in culinary arts.

Pay: $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 – 40 per week
