Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine and the skills necessary to create authentic sushi dishes. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi and sashimi, ensuring that all dishes meet our restaurant's standards for taste and presentation. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present sushi and sashimi using fresh ingredients while adhering to traditional Japanese techniques.
  • Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi dishes and seasonal specials that reflect current food trends.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely meal preparation and delivery during peak hours.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Help with food preparation tasks as needed, including cutting vegetables, preparing sauces, and marinating proteins.
  • Participate in catering events by preparing sushi platters that meet customer specifications.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff or dietary aides in sushi preparation techniques as necessary.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry or restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of various sushi styles, ingredients, and preparation methods.
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in food presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation processes.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A passion for culinary arts with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement in cooking techniques.
