Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Japanese Food Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Japanese cuisine, including sushi, sashimi, tempura, and other traditional dishes. This role involves preparing high-quality Japanese food in a fast-paced environment, ensuring exceptional presentation and flavor. The chef will oversee kitchen operations, manage food safety standards, and contribute to menu development to deliver an authentic dining experience for our guests.
Duties
- Prepare and cook authentic Japanese dishes with precision and creativity, including sushi, ramen, tempura, and other specialties
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to food safety standards
- Manage inventory control and food supply orders to maintain optimal stock levels
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing leadership, training, and mentorship to ensure high-quality food production
- Plan menus that highlight traditional Japanese cuisine while accommodating dietary restrictions and customer preferences
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in compliance with health regulations
- Collaborate with management on shift scheduling, catering events, and special menu offerings
- Monitor food handling procedures to ensure safety and quality standards are met at all times
- Lead efforts in food presentation and plating to enhance the dining experience
Skills
- Extensive culinary experience specializing in Japanese cuisine with fine dining expertise
- Proven banquet experience and background in supervising kitchen teams
- Strong leadership skills with team management capabilities
- Knowledge of inventory management, food production, and food safety protocols
- Experience in menu planning, catering, and restaurant management
- Excellent skills in food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen management
- Ability to oversee shift management and coordinate multiple responsibilities efficiently
- Familiarity with the food industry standards for hospitality and service excellence
- Strong organizational skills for inventory control and food handling procedures
- Previous restaurant or hospitality experience with a focus on Japanese or Asian cuisine is highly desirable
