Description
The Division of Consumer Protection was created within the Department of Insurance in 1998 to offer assistance to consumers with insurance-related issues. The division is responsible for handling consumer complaints against health, life, auto, homeowners, and commercial insurance. The division also takes complaints regarding the actions of an agent or agency.

We are looking for an Administrative Supervisor to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As an Administrative Supervisor, you will provide direct supervision to staff providing administrative support to the Property and Casualty Section within the Department of Insurance operations.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following

  • Supervises, plans, and reviews the work of the property and casualty consumer complaint investigators and insurance policy specialists II.
  • Approves leave according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates employee performance, counsels employees on work-related problems, gives reprimands, recommends disciplinary actions, as well as promotions.
  • Provides in-service training and recommends employees for specialized training for consumer complaint investigations.
  • Prepares correspondence and special reports for executive management with policy recommendations as needed.
  • Develops and recommends policy and procedures for staff and consumers regarding complaint investigations.
  • Determines program implications, options available, and fiscal impact on specific programs within the division, specifically as it relates to federal and state laws, as well as the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
  • Interprets laws, rules, and regulations to agents, brokers, insurance companies, and the general public.
  • Oversees the organization updates found in publications, research, and databases as it pertains to consumer protection, while also working with internal staff to distribute updates to public.
  • Coordinates with legal, commissioner, and other divisions as needed regarding complaints.
  • Corresponds with local, state, and federal personnel on matters relative to consumer protection.
  • Reviews and maintains technical statistical reports and submits reports to executive management staff.
  • Assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Four years of professional administrative experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
