Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to help with mechanical issues to fleet management. The ideal candidate will have extensive mechanical knowledge and experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and heavy equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and the ability to work with various types of machinery including excavators, cranes, and farm equipment. The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards for safety and performance.

Duties

  • Perform diagnostic tests on diesel engines and heavy machinery to identify issues.
  • Conduct repairs on transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Execute routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire service, brake repair, and alignment.
  • Work with schematics to understand mechanical systems and troubleshoot problems effectively.
  • Fabricate parts as needed to ensure optimal performance of machinery.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed on vehicles.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols while working in a shop environment.

Experience

  • Previous experience as a mechanic with a focus on diesel engine repair is required.
  • Dealership experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, and tractor-trailers is highly desirable.
  • Experience with automotive repair including shocks & struts, assembly, electrical systems, and soldering is beneficial.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely as part of daily tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills coupled with an aptitude for mechanical troubleshooting.
