Drafting Director

We're looking for a hands-on, solutions-focused leader to guide our Design and Drafting teams and help shape the design backbone of our homebuilding operations. As the Drafting Director, you'll oversee the daily performance of our Drafting and Design functions, ensuring every plan set, model, and detail is accurate, efficient, and aligned with project goals.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the daily workflow of the drafting and design teams, ensuring clarity, efficiency, and top-quality output.
  • Set up and maintain control logs with the Homes Divisions (RFIs, change orders, etc.) and prepare for weekly and monthly coordination meetings.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly across staff, division partners, and estimating teams.
  • Align daily, weekly, and monthly CAD team tasks with project milestones.
  • Recruit and develop top drafting and design talent to support a growing pipeline.

Technical & Project Management

  • Interpret contract documents using various software platforms and ensure all requirements are fully understood.
  • Manage the upkeep of home design files, including updates, MEP model distribution, and maintaining current blueprints.
  • Perform and oversee home design and job reviews using MicroStation/ArchiCAD.
  • Oversee QA/QC deliverables prior to distribution to the Homes Divisions, including multi-state permit/start packages.
  • Review project estimates and identify special conditions or unique project requirements.
  • Direct the RFI tracking and review process.
  • Provide oversight for site inspection personnel and trade partners.
  • Manage drawing uploads/downloads from internal and external sources.

Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Develop and refine standards, policies, and procedures to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate the quality of architectural and engineering work.
  • Coordinate and manage outside engineering consultants as needed.
  • Support leadership with any additional duties that contribute to the success of the department and the company.

Pay: $100, $125,000.00 per year
