Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our Arlington Heights team, supporting our EMI Porta brand. Reporting to the Director of Operations – Residential, you will oversee and optimize manufacturing operations, coordinate production, manage resources, ensure efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Production Management

  • Oversee daily manufacturing operations, including assembly, shipping, and receiving.
  • Monitor production schedules and implement strategies to meet targets.
  • Allocate resources—personnel, equipment, materials—for efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with supply chain on inventory management and stock control.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Implement and maintain quality control standards.
  • Conduct inspections and address quality issues promptly.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing tools and best practices.

Leadership & People Development

  • Supervise, coach, and motivate production staff.
  • Provide training and foster crosstraining among team members.
  • Maintain a positive, productive work environment.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure a safe workplace and compliance with regulations.
  • Implement safety protocols and training programs.

Customer & Performance Management

  • Communicate job status with customers and facilitate changes.
  • Track KPIs and develop action plans to address performance gaps.

Facilities Management

  • Maintain the facility and equipment, scheduling preventive maintenance as needed.

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of operations management in a manufacturing environment; Elevator Industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, inventory management; Lean Manufacturing and 5S experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; bilingual Spanish preferred.
