Overview

The Transgender Health and Wellness Center is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk I to support daily accounting and financial operations within a mission-driven nonprofit healthcare organization. Reporting to the Senior Accountant, this role will assist with transactional accounting, account reconciliations, and payroll support while maintaining accurate financial records. Experience in nonprofit accounting, QuickBooks Online, and medical billing systems such as Office Ally is highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine accounting and clerical duties, including accurate data entry
  • Assist with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
  • Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payments in a timely manner
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation
  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
  • Assist with payroll processing and related reporting
  • Support medical billing and claims processing, including Office Ally, as needed
  • Communicate with internal departments and external vendors
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies
  • Incluldes other duties as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in accounting or bookkeeping required
  • Prior nonprofit organization experience strongly preferred
  • Required: 1–2 years of experience using QuickBooks Online
  • Payroll support experience required; ADP payroll experience a plus
  • Medical billing experience preferred; Office Ally experience a plus
  • Basic understanding of GAP accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment

This role is ideal for candidates passionate about finance operations who thrive in a remote work environment. The successful applicant will demonstrate technical accounting expertise combined with strong organizational skills to support our dynamic finance team. Must have a high level of integrity and accountabling. This position has digital remotely supervision.

Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
