Parents and Teachers are a constituency particularly concerned about the risks from AI at the moment. We are looking for someone to lead our public engagement efforts to parents and teachers. Our hope is to educate and inform this important constituency, increasing engagement around the extreme risks of AI across the country. 

Such a role would be expected to carry out both grassroots outreach to parents and teachers groups across the country, as well as to engage in shaping a public narrative through digital and traditional media. You should be comfortable speaking authentically both to the media, and to smaller, in person, audiences. You do not need prior experience with speaking to media, media training will be provided. 

Key Responsibilities
  • Help formulate and lead our strategy for public engagement towards parents and teachers
  • Engage with Parent and teacher groups across the country
  • Be a spokesperson for CAIS on issues concerning Parents and Teachers
  • Help contribute to our overall media and digital strategy with specific reference to parents and teachers
You may be a good fit if:
  • Are a parent (ideally currently raising children) and/or teacher. 
  • Have engaged with PTAs and other parents/teachers organizations before (Moms groups, teacher unions etc)
  • Are comfortable speaking to the media and towards various different in person audiences (prior experience is not required, media training will be provided)
  • Have strong organizational and operational skills
  • Good strategic thinking
  • Have good people skills towards people from a diversity of cultural and political backgrounds from across America
  • Have a strong desire to reduce extreme risks from AI (including existential risks)
