Houston, Texas, United States LJA Engineering, Inc Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As the Logistics Manager at CorePrint Solutions, you will lead all aspects of warehouse operations, shipping, and logistics coordination. You'll ensure that every shipment is accurate, timely, and properly communicated through the company's ticketing system—from preparation and carrier scheduling to delivery confirmation. You'll manage a small warehouse and logistics team, including the Logistics Associate, and will be responsible for maintaining operational efficiency, inventory accuracy, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented leader who combines organizational skill with a service-first mindset. You'll work closely with the Service and Operations teams to ensure that all shipments—whether equipment, parts, or consumables—arrive on time and in excellent condition, with tracking and documentation available to internal teams and clients alike.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Leading and coaching warehouse and logistics staff to achieve productivity, accuracy, and safety goals.
  • Overseeing all shipping and receiving activities, ensuring orders are fulfilled accurately, packed securely, and shipped on schedule.
  • Coordinating with carriers and logistics partners for daily pickups, deliveries, and freight optimization.
  • Reviewing and approving shipment schedules, freight arrangements, and carrier assignments to prevent delays.
  • Ensuring all shipping details, delivery dates, and tracking numbers are entered and maintained accurately in the ticketing system.
  • Monitoring the ticketing queue to confirm logistics-related tickets are updated promptly and closed when complete.
  • Negotiating rates and managing relationships with transportation vendors to ensure cost-effective, reliable service.
  • Managing inventory accuracy—tracking incoming and outgoing products, verifying quantities, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintaining warehouse organization, labeling, and rotation (FIFO), ensuring bins, pallets, and storage areas are clearly identified.
  • Reviewing and following up on backorders, on call orders, and open purchase orders with vendors and purchasing.
  • Investigating delayed or damaged shipments, filing claims, and communicating updates to internal stakeholders.
  • Implementing process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce handling time or shipping costs.
  • Monitoring and reporting key logistics metrics such as order fill rate, freight cost trends, and delivery timeliness.
  • Ensuring warehouse equipment and vehicles are maintained, inspected, and operated safely.
  • Overseeing compliance with OSHA and DOT standards, including forklift certification and driver safety protocols.
  • Coordinating with the Service Department to manage incoming/outgoing equipment shipments, demos, and returns.
  • Supporting warehouse supply management (tape, wrap, labels, tools) and placing replenishment orders as needed.
  • Training team members on warehouse standards, ticketing documentation, and shipping procedures
  • Conducting periodic cycle counts and assisting Accounting with monthly and annual inventory reconciliations.
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and safe warehouse and dock areas at all times.
  • Monitoring team performance, utilization, and workload distribution to maintain productivity and balance.
  • Leading weekly warehouse and logistics meetings to review performance, upcoming shipments, and continuous improvement opportunities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4+ years of experience in warehouse, shipping, or logistics management.
  • Proven success managing receiving, inventory control, and delivery operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience coordinating freight and logistics with national or regional carriers.
  • Experience using a ticketing system or ERP to document shipments, tracking details, and delivery updates.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to hold teams accountable.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a focus on transparency and follow-through.
  • Service-first attitude, professionalism, and teamwork under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and warehouse safety standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform occasional physical warehouse tasks.

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

  • Experience in a print, technology, or equipment distribution environment.
  • Understanding of freight cost analysis, LTL coordination, and shipment routing.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, SOS Inventory, or similar inventory systems.
  • Skill in analyzing logistics KPIs (turnaround time, shipping accuracy, cost efficiency).
  • Experience negotiating rates and managing carrier performance reviews.
  • Familiarity with staging and shipping of large or specialty print equipment.
  • Positive leadership style with commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
