About the job
As a logistics specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating and optimizing the transportation and distribution of goods, ensuring a smooth flow of material and products throughout the supply chain.
In this hands on role you will manage the logistical process, negotiate with carriers as well as implement new strategies to enhances efficiency while meeting production and customer demands.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Transportation Coordination
- Coordinate the transportation of materials and finished goods.
- Assist PMs with drafting, reviewing, and issuing POs to forwarder and vendors.
- Distribution Management
- Oversee the distribution process, including order fulfillment, packing, and shipping, to meet customer demands and deadlines.
- Carrier Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with transportation carriers, negotiating contracts, monitoring performance, and addressing any issues to ensure reliable and quality services.
- Freight Cost Management
- Manage freight costs by analyzing shipping rates, optimizing transportation strategies, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising service quality.
- Inventory Control
- Collaborate with inventory management teams to optimize stock levels and prevent stockouts or excess inventory.
- Customs Compliance
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations and manage documentation related to international shipments, coordinating with customs brokers when necessary.
- Documentation and Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate records of shipments, contracts, and logistics activities, ensuring documentation compliance and facilitating efficient retrieval of information.
- Risk Management
- Identify potential risks within the logistics process, such as delays or disruptions, and implement strategies to mitigate and manage these risks.
- Technology Utilization
- Utilize logistics management software and tools to streamline processes, track shipments, and enhance overall visibility and coordination.
- Continuous Improvement
- Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for enhancement and implementing best practices within the logistics function.
About you
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Experience
- Experience in worldwide logistics coordination, transportation management, and customs clearance role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands on experience with ocean and inland freight, customs documentation, and international shipping processes.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while maintaining team collaboration
- Strong analytical skills with a problem solving mindset and attention to detail
- Comfort in adapting to changes in market conditions, production requirements, and business priorities, adjusting logistics strategies accordingly.
