Position Summary
Ultimate Staffing is hiring a
Purchasing Department Manager oversees all procurement and sourcing activities supporting our customers' large-scale manufacturing operations in Fort Worth TX.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Hire, train, and mentor purchasing and procurement staff.
* Assign, review, and evaluate team performance.
* Conduct timely performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
* Promote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy and Planning
* Develop and implement strategic purchasing plans to support manufacturing operations, cost reduction, and inventory optimization.
* Forecast material needs in alignment with production schedules and customer demand.
* Monitor global market trends and supplier capacity to anticipate risks and pricing fluctuations.
Vendor and Supplier Management
* Identify, qualify, and manage a robust network of suppliers for raw materials, components, and indirect materials.
* Negotiate supplier agreements to secure competitive pricing, quality, and lead times.
* Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
* Establish long-term partnerships that ensure stability and support innovation.
Operational and Inventory Management
* Oversee day-to-day purchasing operations to ensure uninterrupted material flow to production lines.
* Collaborate with Production, Logistics, and Quality teams to align supply availability with manufacturing schedules.
* Monitor inventory levels, minimizing excess stock while preventing shortages.
* Lead efforts to improve warehouse and material handling coordination.
Cost and Budget Management
* Manage departmental budgets and monitor spend performance against cost-saving goals.
* Evaluate and analyze cost drivers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
* Support cost-down initiatives through supplier development, alternate sourcing, and process efficiency.
Process Improvement and Compliance
* Establish, maintain, and continuously improve procurement procedures and internal controls.
* Ensure all purchasing activities comply with corporate policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
* Drive system and process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and digital procurement tools (ERP/MRP).
Risk and Data Management
* Identify potential supply chain risks and implement mitigation and contingency strategies.
* Utilize data analytics to measure supplier KPIs, purchasing trends, and operational efficiency.
* Prepare periodic reports for leadership on procurement metrics, supplier performance, and cost-saving results.
Qualifications
Education:
* Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
Experience:
* 5-7 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in manufacturing or electronics.
* Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management role leading procurement teams.
* Demonstrated success in contract negotiation, supplier management, and cost-reduction initiatives.
Technical Skills:
* Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Coupa.
* Strong understanding of global sourcing, inventory control, and just-in-time (JIT) principles.
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities using Excel and data visualization tools.
Soft Skills
* Strategic leadership and team-building capabilities.
* Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills.
* Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment.
Certifications (Preferred):
* Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Professional (CPP).
* Lean Six Sigma or APICS certification preferred.
Performance Indicators (KPI'S)
* Cost savings achieved through supplier negotiations and process improvements.
* On-time delivery and material availability to production.
* Supplier performance, quality, and compliance metrics.
* Inventory turnover and reduction in excess stock.
* Departmental adherence to budget and company policies.
Working Conditions
Split between office and manufacturing floor environments.
* Exposure to warehouse conditions (moderate noise, heat, or cold).
* Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and walk manufacturing areas regularly.
* Requires close vision, manual dexterity, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
