Geoscience Application Support

Position Title: Geoscience Applications Specialist

Job location: Remote Work Mode: (5 days working- 2 days week-offs)

Hours of operation: 8hrs day shift

Role Summary: We are seeking a skilled Geoscience Applications Specialist to support and optimize the deployment, configuration, and performance of critical subsurface interpretation and analysis software. This role bridges geoscience applications, data workflows, and IT infrastructure, ensuring that software and systems run smoothly and efficiently for geoscience teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Support & Installation

◦ Install, configure, and maintain geoscience software including Petra, Kingdom, and other exploration and production (E&P) applications.

◦ Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot issues and ensure reliable application performance.

• Data Management & Integration

◦ Understand and work with a variety of geoscience data formats (e.g., well logs, seismic, production, geological models).

◦ Design, develop, and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines between multiple applications and databases to streamline workflows and improve data accessibility.

• Licensing & Compliance

◦ Manage and monitor software licensing, ensuring compliance with vendor agreements and optimizing usage across the organization.

◦ Provide reporting and recommendations on license allocation and renewals.

• Hardware & Performance Optimization

◦ Assess and recommend hardware requirements to support geoscience software

◦ Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to architect and support hardware configurations (servers, workstations, storage, HPC clusters) that maximize performance and scalability.

◦ Benchmark and tune systems to improve efficiency and reliability of geoscience workflows.

• Collaboration & User Support

◦ Partner with geoscientists, data managers, and IT to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

◦ Provide training, documentation, and end-user support to improve adoption and productivity.

Qualification:

• Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience supporting geoscience software (Petra, Kingdom, Petrel, GeoGraphix, or similar).
• Familiarity with geoscience data types and workflows.
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools, scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Shell), and databases (Oracle, SQL Server).
• Strong understanding of software licensing management.
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, networking, storage, HPC, or cloud environments).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between geoscience and IT.
