Profile Summary*
The API Consultant is responsible for providing technical assistance to customers using Voya Financial's API solutions in Employee Benefits. The API Consultant must combine excellent communication skills with API knowledge, applying technical know-how to support client level API implementations, error resolution and timely response to client inquiries.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert with in-depth knowledge of our API products and capabilities
  • Facilitate implementation discussions with clients, guiding them through the integration setup, and consulting on best practices.
  • Monitor error reports and proactively communicate with stakeholders
  • Investigate and resolve client-reported data integration issues by analyzing communications, internal systems, and data. Collaborate across the business and serve as liaison between departments to ensure client API issues, errors, and inquiries are addressed
  • Trace data flows from upstream systems to downstream platforms.
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine where issues stem from
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to relay client feedback in support of ongoing improvements to API functionality.
  • Document standard of work and operating procedures; engage in training and upskilling of team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Required

  • Strong understanding of API integrations and data exchange workflows.
  • Experience with enterprise systems such as Workday, data integration platforms, business integration solution, and absence management concepts.
  • Proficiency in XML and JSON formats for data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to interpret and apply API documentation to real-world scenarios.
  • Skilled in data tracing and debugging across multiple platforms.
  • Analytical mindset for identifying root causes across systems and configurations.
  • Excellent communication skills for client-facing updates and internal collaboration.
  • Experience facilitating technical discussions and consulting on integration best practices.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in business or IT fields
  • Workday experience is a plus but not required.
  • Background in client services, technical consulting, or product ownership.

Compensation Pay Disclosure
Voya is committed to pay that's fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate's geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$84,260 - $105,320 USD
