Account Manager Responsibilities & Expectations
Position Summary
The Account Manager (AM) is responsible for managing client relationships, servicing policies, and driving sales growth through retention, renewals, cross-selling, and upselling opportunities. The AM acts as a trusted advisor to clients, ensuring their insurance needs are met with professionalism and efficiency.
Required Experience
- 3 to 5 years as a P&C Account Manager
- Experience with:
- Coastal insurance markets
- Frequent remarketing
- E&S carriers
- Agency billing
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- You will work alongside another experienced Account Manager on some related accounts
Key Responsibilities
Client Management & Retention
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, ensuring all interactions are handled professionally and promptly.
- Proactively engage clients to retain policies, address concerns, and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Conduct comprehensive policy reviews at renewal to identify coverage gaps and recommend additional protection.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns regarding premium increases, non-renewals, and coverage modifications.
- Strive to maintain a minimum of three lines of business per client where applicable.
- Process policy changes, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements as requested.
- Follow up on non-renewal notices to explore alternative coverage solutions for clients.
- Assist clients with filing claims and following up through the claims process where applicable striving to always provide an excellent client experience.
Sales & Growth Responsibilities
- Monthly Green New-Business Goal of $15,000 in premium is expected.
- Identify cross-sell and upsell opportunities at every customer interaction to round out accounts.
- Actively solicit referrals from satisfied clients and network with prospects.
- Ensure every renewal is reviewed, quoted (if necessary), and documented in AgencyZoom before expiration.
- Maintain a consistent closing ratio on new business opportunities.
- Prepare and present professional insurance proposals to clients.
- Educate clients on the value of proper coverage and company offerings.
- Stay informed about carrier promotions, discounts, and underwriting guidelines to maximize competitive advantage.
Operational & Compliance Duties
- Maintain compliance with all state licensing requirements (valid SC Property & Casualty License required).
- Document all client interactions thoroughly in AgencyZoom for record-keeping and compliance.
- Process AOR/BORs, policy transfers, and underwriting submissions in a timely manner.
- Respond to all voicemails and emails within 48 business hours.
- Adhere to agency procedures for quoting, binding, and servicing policies.
- Regularly review carrier underwriting guidelines to ensure accurate policy placements.
- Accurately process payments, billing inquiries, and finance agreements as needed.
- Collaborate with underwriters, carriers, and agency leadership to resolve complex coverage issues.
Work Expectations & Professionalism
- Arrive on time and be available during business hours; occasional early or late hours may be required.
- Exhibit strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking skills.
- Work collaboratively with CSR if applicable and other team members to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a customer-first attitude, ensuring all client interactions are handled with care and professionalism.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, carriers, and team members.
- Maintain a high level of integrity, ethical standards, and confidentiality when handling client information.
- Stay updated on insurance industry trends, carrier guidelines, and compliance regulations.
- Please inform Bill Spraul, President when/if you will not be in the office for any reason.
Pay: $58, $66,000.00 per year
