Overview:
The Director of Accounting leads the centralized division accounting function overseeing accounting for divisional areas such as admissions, marketing, student finance, partnerships and sponsorships and, Additionally, leads the fixed assets and accounts payable teams that support both the division and corporate. The Director of Accounting ensures compliance with GAAP and company policies, while focusing on continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Director is responsible for ensuring the all-accounting practices are in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
Pay Range: $150,000 - $160,000

Responsibilities:
- Leads portions of the monthly close process, including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses; ensuring that revenue related to the tuition loan program is properly recorded in accordance with ASC 606. Understands and enforces established policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of the monthly Business Review report and other support schedules.
- Regularly looks for opportunities to optimize and streamline processes and procedures to make the month-end close process more efficient and accurate.
- Oversees the weekly check run for accounts payable, ensuring that all invoices are paid in accordance with vendor terms and in-line with management's cash utilization strategy.
- Champions and implements new electronic payment methods for accounts payable based upon new available technology and industry standards and trends.
- Responsible for ensuring that all capital purchases are recorded timely and accurately.
- Oversees the process for annual and quarterly cycle-counts of fixed assets to ensure existence.
- Key player in supporting or managing company growth initiatives and other special projects as it relates to the Accounting Department.
- Continued focus on improving system efficiencies while ensuring compliance with SOX and SEC requirements by performing system testing, spreadsheet testing, access review, etc.
- Supports annual and quarterly audits (both internal and external).
Actively supports remediation efforts regarding compliance issues, including but not limited to, SOX findings, Internal Audit findings and business-identified issues.
Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics

Qualifications:
Education / Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant accounting experience (required); Public company experience (preferred)
- Experience with enterprise financial management systems (required) (PeopleSoft preferred)
- Active CPA (required)

Environment:
- Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
- This position is designated as Remote. Employees must meet minimum technical standards for eligibility and participation.
