Job description

The Mechanical Senior Engineer I is responsible for performing advanced level analysis work within each of our clients' projects. The Senior Engineer will be part of a project team from inception through construction completion. The role will act as a discipline lead within projects, managing internal and external resources as required.

Functions

• Applies broad knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices
• Represents Onyx at all times, displaying professionalism and ethical business practices

• Exhibits excellent communication skills internally as well as externally with clients and vendors

Responsibilities

• Sizing Calculations for equipment
• Prepare RFQ packages on Mechanical equipment including Datasheets and specifications, Technical Bid Evaluations, Vendor Drawing reviews interface with equipment vendors, provide clarifications for vendors, review/approve vendor drawings
• Pipe stress analysis (Caesar II), Pipe/Valve specifications, material and coating specifications, hydrotest calcs, BOM's
• P&ID Development- Providing support to process in the development of P&IDs, as applicable
• Hydraulic Analysis- Flow assurance calculations for steady state and transient piping systems.
• Ensure project is in compliance with applicable codes and client standards
• Work with Design team in Equipment layout, 30/60/90 Model Reviews, IFA and IFC development, cross-discipline checking
• Regular meetings with Onyx and client Project Management, providing status, scheduling and budgeting support
• Review and QA/QC all Mechanical and Piping deliverables
• Provide advice and guidance to piping designer based on the result of the calculation
• Run the pipe stress analysis and conduct stress check, equipment nozzle check, flange check, etc.
• Generate stress Isometric and/or stress mark up and provide stress analysis reports
• Verify type of primary pipe support for rest type, guide type, hold-down type and line stopper type base on pipe stress analysis results.
• Deep understanding of Stress/strain (FEA) and vibration analysis is preferred
• Proven ability to influence technical direction and manage competing requirements across disciplines

Will also participate within project meetings and department meetings reporting progress within assignments, answering technical questions for client and/or vendors, and any other required information needed. Requirements

Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering

20 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, may consider less in lieu of direct refinery experience

Able to wear required PPE and drive safely to job site for field walk throughs

Valid Driver's License

All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements upon selection that include Background Screening and Drug Screening

Current TWIC Card or Able to apply and obtain a TWIC card upon hire
