Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Class 8 Diesel Mechanic/Technician to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, hands-on experience with heavy machinery, and the ability to work efficiently. PAY WILL BE BASED ON EXPERIENCE.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension, and HVAC systems on Class 8 trucks and heavy equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, shocks & struts, wheel alignments, and general vehicle inspections
  • Utilize schematics and diagnostic tools for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues
  • Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques
  • Operate forklift and other industrial equipment for repair or maintenance tasks
  • Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and operational standards
  • Assist in the assembly and disassembly of mechanical components during repairs or upgrades
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation of work performed
  • Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to safety protocols and best practices in heavy equipment operation

Skills

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician
  • Strong knowledge of tractor-trailers
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and electrical soldering techniques
  • Mechanical aptitude with expertise in transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, shocks & struts repair
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Physical ability for heavy lifting and performing manual tasks in various working conditions
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills for maintaining service records
