Job Summary: Megan's Place is hiring fun-loving, energetic, and compassionate caregivers to join our dynamic and exceptional team to work with our unique population of children and young adults (ages 3-24) with a variety of developmental and physical disabilities. We are looking for Part Time and Full Time candidates. Emphasis given to candidates who are interested in additional training and quick advancement to management roles.

Responsibilities:

· Design and implement a wide variety of activities which are suitable to each individual participant and their needs

· Adapt activities and assist participants in participating to their full ability

· Participate in a variety of community activities and field trips

· Assist and encourage appropriate social relationships and behaviors with staff and other participants

· Provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living including but not limited to communication, mobility, toileting, hygiene, basic cooking, feeding assistance, dressing, etc.

· Communicate constantly with parents/guardians and update them on the progress and successes of their participant

· Identify and monitor social, emotional, and behavioral challenges and assist in re-direction and safety

· Collaborate and communicate effectively with care team and supervisors

· Adhere to all relevant standards of health and care provided by Megan's Place, and other state and local agencies

Requirements:

· Must complete a background check upon hire (over 18 must have fingerprints run through the FBI/CBI database)

· Must complete all other training requirements for new employees and on an annual basis

· Physically strong enough to lift at least 50 pounds, help lift/transfer participants, disengage if needed from participants demonstrating behaviors, and implement physical interventions based on training and certification.

· Able to run after participants should they try to elope

· Creative and able to "think outside the box"

· Positive and energetic attitude

· Patient, flexible, and demonstrates a passion for working with participants with special needs

· Strong communication and time management skills

· Responsible and reliable

Options for Growth:

· We are looking for candidates interested in moving into leadership positions within 3-6 months with increased responsibilities and compensation

· Additional training and certifications available that influence compensation (including medication administration, driving, and behavior management)

Helpful, but not required (we will provide all necessary training):

· Have CURRENT CPR/First Aid and Blood Borne Pathogens (Universal Precautions) certification

· Willing to complete QMAP training to be able to administer medications and work with seizures and G-Tubes

· Willing to become a driver

· Preferred: experience with working with individuals with a variety of disabilities

· Preferred: a general understanding of developmental and physical disabilities

· Preferred: relevant coursework in child development, education, psychology, healthcare, etc.

· Preferred: Crises Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or similar certification

· Preferred: relevant experience/training for working with challenging behaviors

Current Starting Pay = $18/hour ($20/hour after onboarding and initial training completed). Up to $2/hour additional based on experience. Additional pay possible with additional training and responsibilities such as Medication Administration, Driving, and Behavior Training.
